Breast Lift Surgery

The breast loses its former appearance at different times in each person. The problem of sagging in women with large breasts generally occurs at the earlier age. At the same time, using bras incorrectly causes the breast to lose its current vitality early. Under normal conditions, the head of the breast should be above the fold line. However, in sagging breasts, the head is often located at the fold level. In more advanced cases, the head of the breast is under the fold.

Breast lift surgery, which is also expressed as a breast lifting operation, is a kind of aesthetic operation performed when problems such as the loss of the full appearance of the breast or the downward sagging of the head of the breast occur within the scope of environmental and physical factors. The basic principle at this point is whether the head of the breast is at the fold level or below.

Who is suitable for Breast Lift Surgery?

As with all aesthetic operations, breast lift surgery can be performed on women who are over the age of 18 unless there is a medical necessity. Apart from pregnancy or breastfeeding periods, gravity also causes the breast to lose its upright appearance over time. Often, factors such as weight gain and loss or having a large breast cause the breast to sag sooner than expected. Breast lift surgery is suitable for all women who are both physically and mentally healthy. Women who are not satisfied with the appearance or size of their breasts can also have this operation. However, after breast lift surgery, some scars remain on the body. Therefore, if there is discomfort from these scars, it is recommended to think twice before the operation. It is recommended that women who plan to become pregnant postpone breast lift surgery for a while. At the same time, women during breastfeeding should wait for this process to end. In this way, the breast takes its final shape. Accordingly, it becomes more suitable for operation.

How is Breast Lift Surgery Performed?

Breast lift surgery, which is also defined as mastopexy in the medical language, is basically performed with two different methods. In women with small breasts, silicone is placed under the skin. In women with large breasts, excess breast tissue is removed and an upright appearance is achieved. In addition, the asymmetrical appearance between the breasts is eliminated.

The examination process begins when women who want to have breast lift surgery apply to the doctor. During the examination, the breast tissue of the patient and the position of the nipple are checked. At the same time, the degree of sagging is determined. Breast lift surgery is performed under general anesthesia. During the operation, the heads of the breast are taken to the previously planned area. The tissue of the breast is shaped. At this stage, tissue is removed from the large breasts. Silicone prosthesis is placed on small breasts. Then, if necessary, the excess skin in the area is removed and the operation is completed.

Breast Lift Surgery Recovery Process

  • The patient can start feeding 3 hours after the breast lift surgery.
  • Unless the doctor says otherwise, you can take a shower on the second day after the operation.
  • On the third day, the patient goes to the hospital for general control and dressing.
  • Depending on the general condition of the patient, it is possible to return to daily activities after the third day.
  • It is recommended to stay away from sports activities as much as possible during the first 3 weeks. During this period, it is necessary to use a sports bra with features that grip the breasts.
  • After the third week, simple sports that do not require arm or chest movements can be done.
  • It takes approximately 3 months for the breasts to take their final shape.
